On Veterans Day 2015, The Thome Rivertown Neighborhood and PVM staffs were proud to welcome volunteers from the Legacy Corp for Veterans and Military Families initiative for a pinning ceremony and reception. These volunteers selflessly give their time to provide respite home care and support services to veterans of the United States Military and their families. The pinning ceremony recognized each volunteer individually for their service.
Event highlights included an invocation from Legacy Corp volunteer and veteran Reverend Donald Pailen, the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, and remarks by PVM Board Member James Bradford on the meaning of Veterans Day. Volunteers were then pinned by PVM Board Member Johnnie Jackson, and the crowd was treated to a rousing rendition of “God Bless America.” The event emcee, Lynn Alexander, PVM’s Vice President of Public Affairs, also read a letter from President Barack Obama commemorating the day. The event also welcomed and recognized many veterans who served their country in the United States Military.
