1.  What separates The Village of Westland from other retirement communities?

The staff and residents enjoy a sense of community that revolves around our mission. We are a non-profit, faith based organization. We encourage you to compare our services to any, and all other retirement locations including profit organizations. Please consider that once a new resident is welcomed into The Village of Westland, they become part of an extended family.

2.  Will I be losing my freedom by moving into The Village of Westland?

Although we do have 24-hour emergency support available, morning hall checks and various supportive services, the residents are still able to come and go as they please anytime of the day or night. There are no visiting hours or curfews. A move into this community is often a new beginning followed by a new found freedom. With the support of location services such as maintenance, housekeeping and meal service, residents have the time to do what they enjoy!

3.  Are housekeeping services included?

As part of each resident’s monthly rent, housekeeping services are included every other week. This involves dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning each room in the apartment. If additional housekeeping is needed, a minimal fee is charged.

4.  What is the availability of laundry room/services?

The Village of Westland has laundry rooms with washers and dryers, portable baskets and ironing boards. These facilities are free for use by the residents and/or family members to do the resident’s laundry. If a resident prefers laundry service, the housekeeping staff will pick-up, wash, dry and fold a resident’s laundry for a nominal fee.

5.  What if I do not wish or am no longer able to drive?

Many of our residents have their own vehicles. However, the onsite service coordinator can assist with transportation referral needs. A bus takes residents to special events, restaurants and other places of interest. A van is available for transportation to individual appointments for a nominal fee.

6.  What kinds of activities are available?

Our activities staff provides a full schedule of activities. They include exercise classes, bingo, book discussions, Bible study, crafts, cards, Scrabble, garden programs, ice cream socials and many more!

7.  Am I required to sign a 12 month contract to live at The Village of Westland?

No, our leases are affordable month to month leases with a 30 day notice to vacate.

8. Do you have transportation available?
