For 34 years, Karen Love worked in news media, first at the "Los Angeles Times," then at the "Chicago Tribune" and, most recently, as the chief operating officer (COO) at the "Michigan Chronicle," a minority newspaper in Detroit. But at age 65, Love decided she needed a change.
