1.  What separates Presbyterian Villages of Michigan from other retirement communities?

The Village staff and residents enjoy a sense of community that revolves around our mission. We are a non-profit, faith based organization, with an excellent reputation. Please consider that once a resident is welcomed into the Village, they become part of an extended family.

2.  Will I be losing my freedom by moving into a PVM Village?

Although we do have 24-hour emergency support available, morning hall checks and various supportive services, the residents are still able to come and go as they please anytime of the day or night. There are no visiting hours or curfews. A move into this community is often a new beginning followed by a new found freedom. With the support of Village services such as maintenance, housekeeping and meal service, residents have the time to do what they enjoy!

3. Are housekeeping services included?

As part of each resident’s monthly rent, housekeeping services are included every other week. This involves dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning each room in the apartment. If additional housekeeping is needed, a minimal fee is charged. Housekeeping is not included in Independent Living. Assisted Living housekeeping is biweekly.

4. What is the availability of laundry room/services?

The Village has laundry rooms with washers and dryers, portable baskets and ironing boards. These facilities are free for use by the residents and/or family members to do the resident’s laundry. If a Village resident prefers laundry service, the housekeeping staff will pick-up, wash, dry and fold a resident’s laundry for a nominal fee.

5. What if I do not wish or am no longer able to drive?

Many of our residents have their own vehicles. However, we do provide weekly transportation on a rotating schedule to banks, malls and grocery stores at no additional cost. A bus takes residents to special events, restaurants and other places of interest. A van is available for transportation to individual appointments for a nominal fee.

6. What kind of programs are available?

Each week our activities staff provides a full schedule of activities. They include exercise classes, bingo, book discussions, Bible study, crafts, cards, Scrabble, garden programs, ice cream socials and many more!

7. Do you offer religious services in the chapel?

We are non-denominational and serve seniors of all faiths. Our Chaplain provides worship services as well as emotional and spiritual support.

8. Do you provide more than one level of care on the campus?

The Village of East Harbor is a continuing care community on a beautiful 44-acre wooded campus. Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Sub-acute Rehabilitation, and Respite Care for caregiver’s relief – all on one campus! Our residents enjoy the peace of mind knowing they receive priority access to health care.

9. What kind of housing options do you offer?

The Village of East Harbor provides a spectrum of choices from month-to-month apartments to cottage homes with refundable entrance fees, providing options to fit your budget.
